So here is some interesting reading, the Japanese hardware chart’s Top 5 items for sales in the week beginning 6th November, the PS3’s launch week.

1. DS Lite - 148,174 (units sold)
2. PS3 - 81,639
3. PSP - 19,123
4. PS2 - 16,157
5. XBox 360 - 3,864

Even though it was the biggest even of a console’s (namely the PS3) lifetime, it’s launch, the DS Lite sales were still almost double that of the massively hyped PS3. OK there are are a few differences, the PS3 was only available for 2 days during the chart week and then there was the limited launch supply, but still, this definetly merits credit where it’s due for Nintendo. This is not just a one off, the DS Lite sales have been soaring for week after week. Let’s hope they can apply some of the same magic to the Nintendo Wii.
