eBay Restricts Console Pre-orders

eBay Restricts Nintendo Wii PreorderseBay, the world’s largest online marketplace, has restricted sellers who are pre-selling Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3 order through online auctions. The move now limits each user to 1 auction and the seller must provide proof of their pre-order so that no buyers get caught out in fraudulent sales. A preapproved selection of eBay’s finest however have been deemed above this restriction and are free to sell as many consoles as they like, provided they can prove they will have them in stock on launch.

Playstation 3 pre-orders are currently selling for about $1500, almost 3 times the store of the standard 20gb edition console. Nintendo Wii pre-orders are also stunning, selling at an average above $500, more than double the instore price.

It’s no surprise then that these two consoles are expected to be among the top sellers this christmas time and with the added knowledge that the Japanese launch supply of PS3 consoles has now run completely dry, they will be very valuable christmas presents.
