Wii Forecast Channel Launches
Well if you haven’t checked your Wii in the last few hours then now is the time. You should find yourself greeted by the blue glow to notify of a new email, this new email is introducing you to the official launch of the Wii Forecast Channel. We were lucky enough to see the blue light and check in and we have a world exclusive first look at the new forecast channel.
The first thing you need to do before you can do anything is update the software. You will be prompted to do so through the email and the process only takes a minute or two. Once the update is done you are ready to see the world’s weather.
It’s easy to browse around but the first stop should be settings to configure the system to pick up weather from your location. There are plenty of options available and you should be able to get weather from a location quite nearby, if not exactly (in cities).
Perhaps the nicest thing about the forecast channel is the ‘Globe’ view. Simply select the Globe button on the main forecast channel view and away you go. You can click and drag to rotate around the world and then use the + and - to zoom in and out on any location in the world. The larger cities appear by default on the globe and you can instantly find out the temperature and weather in any city on the Earth. Why not nip down to the South Pole to see the subzero temperatures (-16c when we checked) or nip over to the scorching heat of the desert.
This is a great new Wii channel and if Nintendo keep it up with the upcoming News channel then this console is a sure fire winner for mums and dads wanting to stay up to date on weather and news, as well as enjoying the fun games Nintendo have brought to us so far.
PS. Stay tuned as we have uploaded a video of the Wii Forecast Channel to YouTube and will be adding it shortly. Also why not discuss the Wii on our new forum.
Edit: The forecast channel video is now available.
