First Looks at Aussie Retail Wii
Our friends over at IGN have got their mitts on the new Aussie Wii retail console. Perhaps the most interesting part is that the Wii Sports box, is a traditional plastic case, rather than the cheap cardboard one that the US retail package included. Also worth noting is that Wii Play will be available at launch in Australia, whereas in the US they have to wait until January to get get hold of it. Head inside for pics.

Got mine at 9am launch day at Target. Picked up Zelda too, it’s so good, already about 7 hours of gameplay in. I will be writing a review for Wii Sports, Zelda and Wii Play once I have a few more hours of gameplay clocked up on each.

Can a Wii system which is bought in North America be played on a TV in Australia?
Please answer to normanpinsky@eastlink.ca
Thanks.

Decided to wait for the launch to die down… wasn’t even really intending to get a Wii until I realised that I could include those family members who usually would shy away from consoles due to the complex controllers.
So I bought it… and 3 more remotes, another nunchuck, and a couple of multi-player games.
Turned out to be a lot of fun and very much worth getting it. Can see christmas becoming quite a laugh with everyone throwing their arms around bowling, smashing, punching and driving (with a wood not a steering wheel).

As far as I know systems should be able to plug into a TV anywhere but the problem is getting the Australian games to work on your console and the North American games to work on the PAL TV.

I found that actually Kevin. Both my parents who have never liked games before now try to push me and my siblings out of the game so they can have a go. We only have 3 Wii-motes for now but with 5 of us wanting to play we should be getting a third soon.
Which games do you have?

My father is in his late 70’s and is finding it hard to keep his attention on things even though he is a great lover of golf and fishing. Now with the Wii he is able to have a go at these things he once loved without having to overcome the problems of moving around which he has had for a couple of years.
So far I have only played Wii Sports even though I have purchased both Raymann and Monkey Balls…. Hopefully will get a chance to play that on the weekend.
I wasn’t *allowed* to get Zelda… apparently its a christmas present
