Toys R Us Cancels Free Game Offer

Kotaku has reported that people who placed pre-orders on the new Nintendo Wii console at Toys R Us stores across Australia, which were initially inclusive of a free game, will now not be receiving the promised software.

The saga began recently when Toys R Us announced that the free game they would be including with pre-orders was in fact ‘Open Season’, a game strongly targetted towards children. After a bit of an uproar about this, they decided they would also offer ‘Need for Speed: Carbon’ as an alternative for teen and adult gamers. However, it now seems that Toys R Us have completely wiped the free game offer and patient Nintendo gamers will now not receive any complimentary software at all, something which will anger many gamers and parents alike who have pre-ordered as a christmas gift for their children.
As always we will keep you posted, I don’t believe we have seen the end of this saga yet.

In case anyone was wondering, this doesn’t seem to be true. People have spoken to TRU and they still seem set on honoring the deal at least for people who pre-ordered with the coupon that promised the free game.

The deal for customer’s who have existing pre-orders will be honored. The fact of the matter is that they have simply stopped offering the free game with pre-orders (that is, for NEW pre-orders). Nothing surprising there.

I am one of the people who pre-order and on 7 Dec they say they don’t have both game in stock. But they say they’ll let me know and send it to me.
However they have better pack: Action pack with Zelda and Wii mode + Wii play. So instead i opt for that.
